At Sumo Restaurants, we care about sustainable food production, and we place high demands on both ourselves and our suppliers. We are always looking for improvements that can reduce pollution and help preserve the environment, while maintaining the high quality of our food.
Our seafood supplier, Lerøy, has been named the world's most sustainable producer in 2019 by FAIRR. Lerøy has MSC and ASC certification, which is the strictest requirement for wild-caught (MSC) and farmed (ASC) seafood. As one of the first players, Lerøy has used microalgae, which means that our fish have a higher omega-3 level than industry standards. Scampi and kingfish at Sumo are ASC certified. This means that our guests can feel confident that fishing / farming of these species has taken place according to best practice. In addition, we are proud that the fish feed used does not contain antibiotics, salmon oil, palm oil, hormones or GMO raw materials.
One of the things that we at Sumo have been working on the most lately is the selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes on our menu. Vegetarian food leads to less greenhouse gas emissions than any other type of food. We have launched "2 for 1 Meat Free Monday" where you can buy whatever you want from our delicious vegetarian menu and get an extra portion for free. We have delicious vegetarian sushi, fried rice, noodles, maki, burger, bao buns and poké on our menu!
(P.S: One of the most sustainable things you can do is eat your food! This is something we hope you will find easy to do with us!)
